Lessons from the 3 Wells
First I would like to point out that in the Bible, water is one of the symbols of the Holy Spirit.Wells are a source of water in unusually dry areas from deep underground.
In Genesis 26 Isaac and his family, servants, flocks and herds went hunting for water. They found a well at a place called Esek. The locals had filled it in and not used it for years even it a place short in water. But when Isaac found the water the locals disputed and said the water was theirs even when they had not been using it.
Have you ever come across Christians who dispute the truth about the Holy Spirit? Those who have never desired the presence of the Holy Spirit for themselves?
If you do just carry on as Isaac did.
Isaac then found another unused well. The locals opposed Isaac again.Once again Isaac just carried on.
Isaac went on without causing any conflict and came to Rehoboth, as a place was made available to them and found water in another well. This time at the Third well they were left in peace.
Then Isaac was led to another place called Beersheba. It was at Beersheba the Lord appeared unto him and said, “I am the God of Abraham thy father: fear not, for I am with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham's sake.”Isaac consecrated the place by building an altar.
It was then that those who had opposed him saw God was blessing him and wanted to be friends!
Isaacs’s servants dug another well and the place is called Beersheba named well of seven.Linking this back to the Holy Spirit we note that there are:7 aspects of the Spirit Isaiah 11:1-3 Wisdom, Understanding, Counsel, Fortitude, Knowledge, Piety and Fear of the Lord.9 Fruit of the Spirit Gal. 5:22-23 love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control and9 Gifts of the Holy Spirit 1 Cor. 12:8-10 wisdom, knowledge, faith, gifts of healing, miracles, prophecy, discernment of spirits, different kinds of tongues, and the interpretation of tongues.
So if we want to move in the blessings of the Holy Spirit we should not strive against those that dispute the truths or who oppose us.Just carry on in peace. In His time God will provide a place for us.But please notice Isaac did not stop at the 3rd well where a place was available for him,He kept going to the 4th well called Beersheba. It was at Beersheba that he met with God.As we press on there will be a place where God will come and will meet with us tell us not to be afraid and bless us.Then those who have opposed us will want to come to us in peace.
Later in Old Testament it was at Beersheba that Elijah found refuge after running from Jezebel. It was there that he met an Angel who gave Elijah twice his strength and food.
But what else happened at Beersheba?
